I used to lie awake at night, stressing about how we could afford college. My worst nightmare was having our daughter fall in love with a school we couldn't afford. And, to be honest, we couldn't afford much! But, I knew two things:
1) My daughter was willing to work hard, and
2) I was willing to become an expert.
I dedicated hundreds of hours to learn what scholarship committees are looking for and how to leverage students' strengths and stories to help them stand out on applications.
As a result, my daughter earned $326,285 in usable scholarship awards in her senior year of high school. That covers her entire cost of attendance for her undergraduate and much of graduate school.
Friends started asking me how we did it. I casually invited some people over to my house, word spread, and my living room was overflowing with parents and students eager to learn.
I've compiled my top tips and lessons I have learned directly from scholarship committee members on what they are looking for in winning applicants. I've met with parents and students to help them craft their story in a compelling way. I've edited resumes and essays for scholarship success.
Let me save you stress, doubt, and countless hours!
